As many of you know by now All Girls Production, is no more, however their last project involves an AMAZING book by a lady named Rebecca Wells. The book is APTLY named "DIVINE Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood", and if you haven't read it.. you're missing out on an amazing story of friendship, relationships, and personal journey.
This mesmerizing novel takes place in the sweltering Louisiana of the '30s. Follow the intriguing on-goings of life in this small town through the eyes of the Ya-Yas, an irreverent group of unforgettable goddesses. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood is an engrossing novel by Rebecca Wells, the award-winning author of Little Altars Everywhere. "
This book is one that you will want to share with your best girlfriends, your mothers, daughters, and sisters. It takes you on an incredible journey, introducing you to new friends, who lived nearly three quarters of a century ago. I enjoyed the movie, the laughs and the tears, but keep going back to revisit the Ya Yas in the books. Remember to get the companion book "Little Altars Everywhere" for more of a look at each of the characters.

Ms. Midler, just portrayed the amazing lady named "Jacqueline Susann" in the movie "Isn't She Great". And since I wasn't able to see the movie in my area, I became curious as to who this lady was that was still getting HUGE amounts of press so many years after her passing. I picked up this book, and WOW... what an amazing life. Not exactly a fairy book life, but one that is amazing none the less. The one thing that struck me the most about Jackie Susann, is her ability to separate the public from the private. She literally led TWO lives, one she was fighting for success, image was EVERYTHING, on teh other, her private life was falling apart and filled with tragedy and heartache. |
Her books are STILL the biggest bestsellers of all time, broguht out in an era where women writers were next to near unheard of, especially on the best sellers list.
