Bette News!!
Okay.. here is my attempt at keeping people abreast of what's up with Bette. It's impossible to know EVERYTHING and it's also hard to tell what is fact and what isn't. SO... if I've made mistakes, I'm sorry, if something I've put up here doesn't happen deal with it... My sources include the Official Bette Midler FanClub message board, various websites for TV and Movie headlines, mailing list and emails from other Bette fans.

VEGAS.. are you READY???
Ms. M has announced that come Feb 2008, Vegas will move from merely Fabulous, to Absolutely DIVINE. She'll be there doing 200 shows at Ceasars Palace. HOW COOL IS THAT!!

More of Ms. M on the Big Screen
Ms. M will be starring in the new film based on the book "Then she Found me" written by Elinor Lipman. The screen play was written in part by none other than Helen Hunt. This movie will star Helen Hunt, Colin Firth, Matthew Broderick and of course Ms. M.
If looks like Helen Hunt will play a school teacher in full out midlife crisis mode, only to have her biological mother drop into the mix to turn everything on end.
Helen plays the school teacher and Ms. M of course is the eccentric talk show host Bernice who has decided that it's now time to be a part of the life of the girl she gave up so many years ago.
Should be a GREAT film.

MS M volunteers to Mentor Pink
Just posted today on Contact.com, the following story.. "BETTE MIDLER has become such a big fan of pop star PINK she has offered to mentor her - and give her parts of her outlandish wardrobe. Pink performed THE ROSE with Midler onstage with her hero once and discovered they have a mutual appreciation for each other.
She tells Blender magazine, "I become a bumbling idiot around her (Midler). She's like, 'Honey, if you need props, or if you need clothes, I got 'em.'""

I remember years ago a discussion of who should play Ms. M in a movie.. and while Ms. M mentioned Courtenay love, I've always thought Pink would be fun to see in the part.
Ms M on the Early Show for Valentine's day
What a splendid way to start of the day of love, but by watching an interview with the Divine Ms. M. She was on the Early Show discussing her work on the Peggy Lee Songbook and treated the audience to a performance of "the Folks who Live on the hill."
Laguna Beach High School Does Tribute to Ms. M
As a kickoff to the 2006 season, the Artists Theater of Laguna Beach High School, did a tribute to Ms M called ""Best Bette: The Bette Midler Songbook."
Board member was quoted as saying "I don't know another singer who has put her stamp on such a wide range of material, She's smart, she's funny, she's deep and she's at her very best on stage."
What can we say.. the guy is right!

Rounding out the top tier is “Bette Midler Sings the Peggy Lee Songbook,” the first top 10 title for the Divine Miss M in more than a decade. The Columbia set notched a rounded total of 55,000 copies, a few hundred short of Bun B’s same rounded total.
“Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook” gave the artist a higher first-week sales tally in 2003 (71,000), but a lower chart entry (No. 14); it has sold 724,000 copies to date. Midler last appeared in the top 10 in 1991 with the No. 6 peak of “Some People’s Lives.”

New CD due out Oct 25th....Ms M and the songs of Peggy Lee
Once again the Divine Miss M has a new CD out for all of us to enjoy. This time she teamed up again with Mr. Manilow to tackle the Peggy Lee Songbook. Classics on this album including "Fever" and "Big Spender"
Be sure to be careful when you go to buy the cd, there is a CD selling on it's own, as well as a Dual Disc set, whcih includes a DVD with some great background and footage. Do yourself a favor and get the dual disc, you'll wish you had!


Diva in Vegas Again???
I tell you when I saw this the other morning I was very excited. Three guesses an easy way to get CC to Vegas? I'll give you a hint... it ain't Elton and it ain't Celine (fellow countrygal of mine or not...)
There are rumors around Vegas that Ms. M's people may be in negotiaions to hook up with Elton and Celine at Caesars Palace Colosseam. While Celine does about 200 shows to Elton's approx 75 shows a year, Ms. M would only do about 30. If this is a good bit of gossip.. BRAVO...
what can I say.. for those of us that are big fans forget Luck being a Lady.. we need luck to be Mermaid, preferably one that answers to Delores.!!!!!
The article went on to say that apparently people that have attempted to contact Ms. M's people are getting only a "no Comment" WHICH isn't a yes or a no. There's still hope.

MS M Slowing Down?
No, she's not slowing down, but she's testified in NY City Hall to the Transportation and Waterfronts Committee,to lower speed limits on the Harlem River, claiming that the speed boats are causing damage to the boathouse she and NYRP worked so hard to put there.
"They travel at excessive speeds, and they create extremely dangerous wakes not just for our building," she said. "We have sustained thousands of dollars (in damage), and the thing has only been there a year."

Ms. M on Top Down Under!!
Ms. M proved when her Kiss My Brass tour hit the Continent of Australia that she's on Top even when she's down under!!! Her tour in the land of OZ hit the Billboard charts for the top ten money making concerts worldwide. Not only that, she took 4 of the top ten slots. Talk about telling the world to KISS MY BRASS!!
